The objective of Pwint Thit Sa is to help companies to maintain/improve the transparency practices. The methodology to be used in 2024 is barely changed from the 2020 and 2022 reports, to make it easier for companies being assessed to build on their previous disclosures.

In 2022, 271 companies were benchmarked. Pwint Thit Sa 2024 is expected to assess over 245 companies (excluding volunteer companies) from  the following categories:

• Companies listed at Yangon Stock Exchange (YSX)
• Public Companies with more than 100 shareholders
• Financial Institutions (banks and insurance companies)
• Top 100 Taxpayers (using the latest available data for the six-month Financial Year in 2019)
• State-Owned Enterprises
• Pre-listing Board of Yangon Stock Exchange (YSX – PLB)(New category)

The 2024 assessment will pay more attention to the financing/lending activities of Banks, reflecting the approach of Fair Finance International  and Fair Finance Asia.

As in the previous year, medium-sized and large companies who do not fall in the above categories are encouraged to volunteer to be benchmarked. Subject to their agreement, their scores will be included in the 2024 Pwint Thit Sa report.

The 2024 report will cover disclosure of the same four types of information as the 2022 report:

• Corporate profile
• Corporate governance
• Sustainability management
• Reporting

Letters are currently being sent to the companies concerned to inform them of the methodology and timetable for the 2024 report.

A draft assessment will be sent to companies in April 2024, giving them the opportunity to discuss their first assessment results and enhance disclosure in advance of the final deadline in July/August 2024. We aim for the eighth Pwint Thit Sa report to be issued in November 2024.
